2018 Hands-on Heroes Awards


On Wednesday April 18, 2018, First 5 Tulare County honored local heroes that make a difference in the lives of children ages 0-5.

The Hands-on Heroes event is a time to honor individuals in Tulare County who are instrumental in improving the lives of children during these early years of development; and to ensure that every child experiences the type of early environment – at home, at child care, at school, and in the community – that will promote their overall wellbeing.

There are six categories of which nominations were received, this year’s recipients are:

Behavioral Health, Beverly Ander son, LMFT

Health and Wellness, Dr. Julianne E. Randolph, D.O.

Exceptional Volunteer, Juan Francisco Lopez, Coach

Early Care and Education, Drew S. Sorensen, Superintendent

Community Advocate, Barbara Bynum, CASA Advocate

Parent Education/Strong Families, Diana Mata, Save the Children
