Our School Readiness Program is designed to link children ages 0 through 5 and their families to a local school site. Collaborative school-based programs and strategically linked services and programs were developed by each community to meet specific needs. Family Literacy, Targeted Intensive Parent Support, Preschool for 3 and 4 year-olds, Health Access, Comprehensive Screening and Assessments, Schools' Readiness for Children, and Program Management are Result Areas and Services common to all sixteen participating schools.
The Pre-kindergarten Developmental Readiness screening pre/post-test average scores from all Tulare County School Readiness Programs in the fall of 2008 showed that 58% of the children scored at the Fully Mastered Skills level. An additional 27% scored at the Emerging level showing a trend towards greater readiness to enter kindergarten ready to learn.
