| | Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency The Tulare County Board of Supervisors appointed John Davis as Director of Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency on March 21, 2006. HHSA provides a full range of services to Tulare County, including clinicial and public heatlh Services; mental health and AOD (alcohol and other drug) services; and social services, which includes children, adult and aging services. Prior to that appointment, he served as the Director of the Human Services Department for seven years; and the Director of Adult Services the three years preceeding that. He also serves as the Director of Kings/Tulare Area Agency on Aging, a position he has held for the last 20 years. | |

| | Mr. Davis graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor's degree in Social and Political Thought in 1969. The following year he earned a Master's degree in Political Science, with a specialty in the Philosophy of Science from the University of Illinois. He received his Doctorate in Political Economy and Comparative Government from the University of Toronto in 1975. Mr. Davis has taught at McMaster University, the University of Toronto (Canada), and at the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana). He continues to teach sociology, philosophy and American Government classes part-time at the College of the Sequoias.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Welfare Directors' Association, the California Association of Area Agencies on Aging, among others. Finally, he sits on a number of Boards, Commissions and workgroups, including the Workforce Development Department Board, the Children Services Network, and of course the First Five Commission. | |
